The Institute for Research in Biomedicine
The Institute for Research in Biomedicine opened its doors in Bellinzona, Switzerland, in September of 2000 with the goal of improving understanding of human immunology. In the ten interceding years the IRB has grown from the initial 20 to more than 80 people. More than 300 papers have been published in leading scientific journals and a doctoral program in immunology has seen the successful defense of 35 doctoral theses. Contributions to understanding the basic mechanisms of the immune system have led to several important breakthroughs that have changed the landscape of immunology research and gained worldwide recognition for the IRB as a center of excellence. In 2009 the IRB redesigned its website using Joomla and J!Research. The J!Research team has been great and the extension has developed around real needs of research institutions.
